Overview
In 1969, Tudor broke away from Rolex tradition and took its Submariner line in a new direction by introducing the iconic 7016 “Snowflake”. Along with the unique dial and hand design, the Shield also added a distinctive blue color to the lineup that has since become emblematic of the brand itself, continuing on through the 79090 and 79190 references of the 1990s and into the modern day Black Bay and Pelagos lines. As far as the vintage models are concerned, the blue Submariners are more rare than their black dial counterparts and are highly sought because of the color distinction from Rolex Subs. For discerning collectors looking to get into vintage Tudor, you can’t do much better than a watch like this.

Condition
Case: The case is squeaky clean with only a few very small hairlines present throughout. The lugs are thick and sharp with crisp chamfers. The crown guards are also well-defined and full, a strong indicator that this watch has not fallen victim to the polishing wheel. The case back is nearly spotless with clear engravings and wonderful contrast between brushed and polished surfaces. The blue bezel insert has a slight fade, shows no marks, and is about as mint as you will see for this reference.
Dial, Hands, & Crystal: The dial and hands are in mint condition with perfectly preserved tritium lume plots that are matching with a light creamy color. When exposed to UV light, neither the dial, hands, or bezel lume plot exhibit any glow. The acrylic crystal is strong with virtually no scratches and plenty of life left to give.
Bracelet/Strap: The Tudor 9315 stainless steel bracelet shows very little stretch and practically no signs of wear. No scratches or desk-diving swirls on this one. The clasp code of O10 matches the year of the case number, the end links are correctly stamped 380B, and the 9315 reference marking is present underneath the first link at 12 o’clock.
